The Benefits of the Electric Fireplace Insert
So here’s what I’m thinking. We own a home that doesn’t have a fireplace. But I dearly love to sit by a good fire in the winter. It’s so relaxing and homey, no matter where you are it just brings you to a peaceful place, if only for a moment.
So what are we to do? While it would be better to put an electric fireplace insert into the hole for an existing fireplace, we don’t have that option. Fortunately you can buy the entire set (hearth, mantel, surround and fireplace logs) all together and put the prebuilt unit anywhere you want. Many of them can even be moved around whenever you rearrange your furniture, giving you the ultimate is design flexibility.
They look real, the higher end models are so realistic it’s often hard to tell that it’s fake. Many come with remotes to control the flame, on or off. They install in minutes, require no venting or permits, and plug into any standard 120-volt outlet. Many of them have a zero-clearance design that allows for flush mounting to drywall or tile, or installation into a finished wall opening.
If you’re looking for a surprise gift for someone these holidays or you’ve just always wanted one, you should consider the various styles of fireplace inserts. If you don’t have a fireplace opening in your home already, then get a full corner electric fireplace and place it out of the way in the room’s corner, or maybe buy a flush unit and put it against the wall.
They can heat your home, sometimes more efficiently than your furnace, and they look great. Now it’s just time to find the perfect place to put ours.
