Novelty Phones – Past, Present and Future
Phones are such a great way of chatting to someone, it is a wonder how we lived without them.
The time is gone when the phone would be available to buy as a one style suits all. Nowadays telephones come in many designs, colours and ringtones. You can purchase them as novelty phones too.
Novelty phones are an excellent idea to converse with your colleagues but also adding your own special style to make it more fun. The ringtones diverse from old style telephones through the century from the 1920s passing through to the the 1950s like a diner phone. Maybe those who are mature enough may remember the finger dialling phone in the colors of – bright reds or blue. As years passed by the fashion became the Trim phone with it is well known ringer.
As the decades passed by, the rotary dialling phones were succeeded by the new push button phones. These over took the old style phones. Later appeared the cordless phone. These phones could mean that you didn’t have to actually stand or sit during a conversation by the phone socket. This meant you could walk around while talking on the phone. Telephones were also wall mounted not just sat on a table top. The materials varied from wood to plastic. More and more homes now owned a telephone to the point that phones were being placed in many rooms of the house.
Many children now own character phones that were similar to their best Disney character such as Donald Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse or Pluto, the list is neverending.
Most males love their boy toys gadgets and liked the Star Wars characters such as R2D2 or Darth Vader. Even Dads have got in on the act by owning a phone in the fashion of a golf buggy, car or Dr Who Tardis. Mums, so not to be left out have their own individual favourites too like a red stiletto shoe or a pair of red lips.
The idea of novelty has also found its way in other areas over the years such as novelty salt and pepper grinders of which there are numerous designs and many of them very collectable.
All these phones still have a basic use in common and that is communication, but it is now not the case that one style suits all. Everyone has an individual personality and everyone likes to have something that is a little unique from others showing their own personal fashion and flair.
